The Invisible Children Of Africa

For many years now, a war has been going on in central Afirca. You may find yourself asking which war? There are so many to choose from. However, this is not an ordinary war. This war is the longest standing war in African history to date. Lasting at least 23 years, this war has claimed many lives, left children with no parents, and threatened the every day lives of anyone in the central Afirca Region.

For the organization of Invisible Children, it all started in the spring of 2003. Three teenagers traveld from southern California to northern Uganda. What was supposed to be a filmmaking adventure transformmed into the journey of a lifetime. For Laren Poole, Jason Russel, and Bobby Bailey, it turned out to be their calling in life. This journey would take them through a hell that they would never have imagined. And this all becasue of one man. Joseph Kony.

Joseph Kony is wanted for an extreme amount of war crimes. Over the years he has commited atrocities that would be in comparison opnly to the Holocaust. This man leads a resistance army known as the LRA against the government of Uganda. Over the years, he has spread his influence out into suroonding countries such as, Democratic Republic of Congo, The Central African Republic, and southern Sudan. What he does is his army sweeps through villages and kills as many people as he can. After he is done, he abducts the children left alive and forces them to serve in his army. Many have tried to resist him, but in the end, he just kills them. He transforms innocent children into cold, lifeless, heartless, killers.

What Invisible Children does is they try to help spread the word about this war. Over the past couple of years, the three guys who orginally went to Uganda came home to America and made a movie of the things that they video taped while they were there. They named their movie Invisible Children in respect to the children that get kidnapped each and every day. Soon they had a movement on their hands. People were scrambling to help these children. Within a couple of months, the organization had grown so large and people were donating to help the cause. The original team organized a tour to go across the country in order to spread the news to high schools and colleges.

Ordinary people have shown us that just one or two people can cause a major differnce in society. Invisible Children got so involved, that congress passed a bill to help these children. Also a couple f months ago, President Obama sent advisory troops to Uganda to help train the forces there in order to help. Also, donations from ordinary people go into The Protection Plan. The protection Plan is a plan to help the villages of Uganda and Central Africa to recognize where the LRA is and to let them know when they are coming. By using a two way radio, villages may communicate with one another in order to tell when Kony's thugs are there. This drastically increases safety in these villages. This is the mission of Invisble Children. While national peace talks are being thrown up and then shot down, we need to help keep the children safe so that Kony can't kidnap them anymore. It is up to us to help through donations, time, and especially through our prayers.

Westboro Baptist... Bully or Church

Westboro Baptist Church. This little controversial church has been the debate for many news casts and newspapers. This church has been around since 1955 and they claim that they are only doing what God commands them to do. They believe that anything that is different than they are should be condemned to hell.

Many times they have been to the funerals of miltiary families to get publicity and spread their ideas to the world. They do not think that we should be fighting the war. However, I think that they are wrong to say this. If it were not for our military and the men and women who serve in our stead, then we would not be here today. These people not only want to take away everything that our country has fought for, but they try to justify the fact that God is telling them to do so.

Also, they teach their children at a very young age to hate everybody. They even kick their own children out if they stray from their faith. This is interolable. However, out of all hate and anger, we as chirstians must forgive them just as Christ has forgiven us. Even through all that they do wrong, we must give them a second chance. It is they thing that God would want us to do. Our God is not a god who hates everything. He loves us and He wants us to be with him. Thats why he gives second chances.

Cyber Bullying

Cyber bullying has become a major problem in the Untied States. Throughout our history, bullying has evolved from physical violence to emotional attacks. These bullies have become smarter by not harming them physically, but have resorted to calling them harmful names. Not only does this bring the kid down, it also has a harmful effect on any of the friends of that kid. There are mnay problems with cyber bullying. For instance, most people have no idea that it is going on in the first place. Also kids that are cyber bullied are more likely not to share it with others because they think that they might get bullied more becasue of it.

Here is a definition of cyber bullying.

People say that cyber bullying will eventually stop. However, I say that it will never stop. If technology continues to increase as it has over the last decade, then there will never be a time where cyber bullying wont be there. However, people can strive to stand up against it. If people know that someone is being bullied, but they know that that person wont go to the authorities, then that person should advocate for them in their stead. People should be friends to those who are bullied because it might give them a reason to stand up. Cyber bullying can also be very depressing. It can cause suicide as well as high emotional states. We need  to be there for our friends.

Blog on if Captial Punishment should be abolished or not

Throughout the years that America has been a country, there has always been people that break the law. However, this is to be expected as we are not a utopian society. Many criminals derserve what they get. Many times, if the crime is severe enough, then they will recieve the death penalty. The death penalty, or captial punishment has been changed many times in America's history. Whether it was hanging, firing ranges, electric chair or death by lethal injection, the criminals were killed because of what they did. Today, they use lethal injection to silence the criminals of society. However, it is not a question of if it should be abolished, it has turned into a question of finding a cheaper wya to do it. In my opinion, i think that we should reslove back to the firning ranges. It would give many new army recruits the ability to have an actual live target. It is very hard to shoot someone in war, if you have never done it before. Also, the firing range would save alot of money becuase the drugs that they use cause many tax paying dollars to be used on a criminal instead of the beeterment of society. All in all, Capital punishment should not be aboished.

Blog on if Handguns should be permitted or banned

Guns are an important part in our lives. Not so much now as they were many years ago. However, guns give us many things that represent freedom. If the government takes away our guns, what is to stop them from taking away everyhting else that we own. While handguns can be dangerous at times, they still stand as a barrier between us and the government. However, there are rules about handguns that protect the lives of americans. Now , there are many people that use handguns for the wrong reasons, such as murder. However, these people are not the majority of Americans who believe that owning a handgun is a right, not a privelage. Handguns should not be banned.
